Federico Coria has tested positive for COVID-19

The Argentine team around Diego Schwartzman will probably have to do without Federico Coria at the ATP Cup. The world number 63. was tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving Down Under and now has to go to a mandatory quarantine. According to media reports, another test will now be carried out - should this also be positive, the Argentine must remain in isolation. Roberto Bautista Agut's coach, Daniel Gimeno, also tested positive.

In the Argentine team, Coria would be replaced by Facundo Bagnis if the test result was again positive. Argentina face Poland, Greece and Georgia in Group D. In addition to Schwartzman, Federico Delbonis is placed in the singles. A run at the Australian Open, which should start on January 17th, is not yet in danger for Coria, even in the case of mandatory isolation, the world rankings 63 could. start at the first major event of the year. Coria is not experiencing any symptoms at the moment.

Uncertainty among other passengers

Coria's positive test result also left its mark on the other passengers on the charter flight from Ezeiza to Sydney. Among other things, the world number 17. Cristian Garin (Chile) would have boarded the same machine in Santiago de Chile, reported La Nacion. According to Australian protocols, all passengers who tested negative on arrival in Australia must have an antigen test every day for the next four days. Isolation is not planned for the moment.

The first tests in Down Under have already revealed numerous positive test results. Denis Shapovalov, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Benoit Paire and Aslan Karatsev, among others, tested positive for COVID-19 before their departure or already in Australia and have to pass for the first events Down Under. At least the Australian Open does not seem to be in serious danger with any of the above.
