The 2021 tennis season may not have gone quite as Pablo Carreno Busta wanted. The Spaniard overwinters in the ATP world rankings in 20th position and, as the leader of the Spanish Davis Cup team, could not prevent the elimination in the group stage of the final tournament. On the other hand: At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Carreno Busta took the bronze medal quite surprisingly, beating Novak Djokovic in the game for third place, and before that Daniil Medvedev.

In his private life, however, things are obviously going very well for “PCB”: He married his girlfriend Claudia Diaz in Gijon at the weekend. The wedding wasn't big, after all, Carreno's coach Samuel Lopez and colleague Roberto Carballes Baena were there.

Just a few days ago, the Australian tennis pros Daria Gavrilova and Luke Saville tied the knot, and Pierre-Hugues Herbert also entered into marriage in the fall.

Pablo Carreno Busta and his wife don't have much time to celebrate: From January 1, 2022 duty will be calling again. And there Carreno should serve as the Spanish number two behind Roberto Bautista-Agut at the ATP Cup in Sydney.
