Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the ATP 250 tournament in Melbourne.

The 26-year-old said he had been feeling unwell for four days. He had done several COVID-19 tests in the past few days, but all of them were negative. "I don't feel at 100 percent, so I need to use this week to be ready for Sydney next week," added Kyrgios.

The Australian had recently made himself rare on the tour, in 2021 he only played eight tournaments. Most recently he was in action at the Laver Cup. He lost all of his last five encounters.

Rafael Nadal is top seed at the tournament in Melbourne.

In addition to Krgios, Richard Gasquet also announced his cancellation on Monday, he actually has COVID-19, as he announced.
