Nick Kyrgios - No matches, no freak out, no lockout

The ATP tour is at a standstill. And while all players would certainly like to serve in a competitive manner again, Nick Kyrgios benefits in one respect: he cannot violate his probation requirements.

At the end of September 2019, ATP had been impressed by Nick Kyrgios' recent misconduct at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati (there the Australian had briefly said goodbye to the cabin with two intact rackets in order to smash them. However, cameras had the Act of Destruction Captured) was given a suspended sentence of 16 weeks. This would come into force if Kyrgios committed a serious violation of the etiquette of the ATP tour within six months.

Well, Kyrgios took it sporty - and just retired from active gaming after a short assignment in Asia. The return to 2020 was almost brilliant at the ATP Cup, Kyrgios won all the games in the group stage, but was beaten in the quarter-final against Spain by Roberto Bautista-Agut. And plenty of it. At the Australian Open, Rafael Nadal ended , with two lost tie breaks at the end.

In Acapulco only one sentence for Kyrgios

Since then, Nick Kyrgios has been plagued by injuries again, the attempt to defend his title in Acapulco failed in round one with Ugo Humbert. And after only one sentence played, which was not appreciated by the audience.

If ATP did not have completely different problems at the moment, one could of course ask the question whether the probation period for Kyrgios has now passed. Or whether the long break during the fall season and, of course, the weeks after the Davis Cup in Madrid are not taken into account.

Kyrgios himself may not think so much about it: no matches, no freak, no suspension. This is what the Canberra man's bill could look like. By the way, Nick Kyrgios seems to have made the transition to the unexpected tennis vacation there, as pictures from social media suggest.
