The 50th edition of the grand slam champion Roger Federer's home tournament, which has already ended his season due to injury, should have taken place from October 24th to November 1st.

"Unfortunately Corona doesn't know any friends," said tournament director Roger Brennwald: "And possible ghost games or social distancing were out of the question for us right from the start." The anniversary edition is now scheduled for October 23-31, 2021.

The early cancellation of record winner Federer certainly played a role in this. The maestro has won an incredible ten titles in his hometown, lifting the last three winners' cups: in 2019 after a final victory against Alex de Minaur, before which Federer defeated Marius Copil in the 2018 finals and Juan Martin del Potro in 2017. In 2016, the almost 39-year-old suspended due to injury.
