The upcoming Masters tournament in Indian Wells will take place without tennis superstar Novak Djokovic. According to the organizers, the 35-year-old Serb withdrew his registration.

The tennis superstar is therefore missing from the list of participants at the upcoming Masters tournament in Indian Wells. The world number one had withdrawn, the organizers announced on Sunday evening (local time). A reason was not given.

The tournament in the US state of California starts on Monday with the qualification, the main draw is active from Wednesday.

Djokovic did not play in Indian Wells last year because he was not vaccinated against the corona virus and vaccination was a prerequisite for entering the USA. At that time he had not withdrawn before the draw, which, in addition to the vaccination issue, had brought him additional criticism.

Recently, politicians had made themselves strong for the Serbs and wanted to support the special permit of the number 1 in the world. It remains unclear whether Djokovic will not start at the Masters in Miami either. With a special permit, Djokovic actually wanted to enter the USA and take part in both events.
