The tennis year 2020 did not start sensationally well for Oliver Marach and Raven Klaasen, but it did start satisfactorily: Although the Australian Open ended in round two, in Rotterdam the two veterans played until the semifinals, in Dubai Marach and were Klaasen even in the final, where they lost to John Peers and Michael Venus. After the Corona break, however, there was only one match win for Klaasen / Marach: in Cincinnati / New York against the German duo Alexander Zverev and Tim Pütz. At the French Open, the end came in round one against Antoine Hoang and Benjamin Bonzi.
And so the days together of Marach and Klaasen are drawing to a close, as the Styrian revealed in the current issue of "Quiet, please - the tennisnet podcast". "We just played bottomless for the last few weeks. It started in the USA. We haven't won a single training set yet. We're not in a good mood. And of course our confidence is gone still play together in Cologne. And next week we're looking for another partner. I have Mate Pavic, but that's not yet fixed. Because Mate is in the final in Paris. "

In Vienna, Oliver Marach would also like to compete with Pavic, but he needs a wildcard. "I'm looking for someone for Paris. Because Raven and I won't play together again in the coming year, that's already fixed." The pandemic would have cost them too much, the systems simply do not fit together.
Financially, the last few weeks have not been easy either: Marach has written a minus, especially since France has blacklisted its adopted homeland Panama. That means that the Austrian had to leave three quarters of his prize money with the French tax authorities.
