Gold and silver for Croatia, that was already clear before the start of the double finals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. In the end, however, Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic, the couple who had already won eight titles this season, most recently at Wimbledon, prevailed. Mektic and Pavic beat their compatriots Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig 6: 4, 3: 6 and 10: 6.
Bronze went to the two New Zealanders Marcus Daniel and Michael Venus, who beat Austin Krajicek and Tennys Sandgren from the USA with 7: 6 (3) and 6: 2.
