Holger Rune is the frontliner of the exhibition tournament in French Normandy

Beautiful Normandy is the venue for the Open de Caen, an invitational tournament that has been held since 2007 and has already seen international winners and finalists such as David Goffin, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, David Ferrer, Gilles Simon and Daniil Medvedev. Compared to true exhibition monsters such as the Diriyah Tennis Cup in Saudi Arabia, north-west France does not work on an attractive field with dirty oil billions, but with continuous, honest work.

Holger Rune is FAA's replacement

The reward for the effort is a balanced mix of top international players and local heroes year after year. In the 2022 edition, old star Richard Gasquet and Adrian Mannarino are supposed to bring the masses to the almost 7,000 spectator "Zenit" hall on the home side. Spaniard Roberto Bautista-Agut and David Goffin are expected to provide cross-country charm, while Italy's Marina Trevisan and Belarus' Aliaksandra Sasnovich will serve on the women's side.

Until recently, the world ranking sixth Felix Auger-Aliassime should have been the frontliner, but he probably had to wave his hands aside because of the exhausting and highly successful last few weeks. Replacement is a no less bright young star of the white sport: Holger Rune. The Dane, who by triumphing at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy put a remarkable end to an already great 2022 season, confirmed in good time for the event, which is endowed with 180,000 euros.
