Roger Federer is still in the lead, has the most Grand Slam titles (21) and has been able to spend most of the weeks at the top of the world rankings - even though the lead over his first rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic is steadily waning. This is particularly worrying for the Swiss, since he is also the oldest member of the elite group called "Big Three", who, at 38, is more likely to have arrived in the late autumn of his career. Nadal and Djokovic, on the other hand, are four and five years younger, respectively, and are likely to be at the top of the world for a few years longer than Federer.

For Australian tennis legend Pat Cash, it is clear that Federer will fall behind both of his pursuits sooner or later. "Everyone says Federer is the greatest player of all time, but he's not even the second largest player of all time. But whoever is the best ever should at least have a positive head-to-head against one of his two worst rivals," said the Australian talking to Ubitennis.com.

"Djokovic will break all important records"

With this, the 55-year-old responds to Federer's quite clear negative direct comparisons with Nadal and Djokovic, because while he lags behind the Serb with 23:27, the comparison with the "Taurus from Manacor" is even clearer - here lies Federer back at 16:24. Nevertheless, according to Cash Novak Djokovic, it will ultimately take the lead in the important comparisons. "Djokovic has the best record and is getting closer and closer to the major titles. For me he is the best. He will soon break all important records," Cash is certain.

In fact, Novak Djokovic is currently hardly touchable, won all of his contested matches in calendar year 2020, won the Australian Open and had previously led his Serbs to triumph in the ATP Cup. Only Dominic Thiem and Gael Monfils have been dangerous for the 33-year-old this year. The record hunt is currently interrupted for everyone involved, the corona virus forces the ATP Tour to be interrupted until at least the beginning of July. Only then will it become clear how long Federer's leadership in the record books will continue.
