Petkovic: "Steffi Graf Stadium looks mega cool with lawn!"

A different kind of lawn tournament will be on the program in Berlin from July 13th - with Julia Görges, Dominic Thiem , Alexander Zverev and Andrea Petkovic. She has already hit a few balls.

Andrea Petkovic used a short stay in Berlin this week to make a flying visit to the Steffi-Graf-Stadion and to hit some balls over a small network on the center court there for a TV feature July 15, 2020 the first of two tennis tournaments will be held on the lawn as part of the bett1ACES. The second event will then be played after a day off from July 17th to 19th, 2020 in Hangar 6 at Tempelhof Airport on Hardcourt. The winner of six WTA tournaments was thrilled with the new lawn mat in the LTTC "Rot-Weiß" eV

“The Steffi Graf stadium looks super cool with grass! If I let the space work on me like this, then the joy of the bett1ACES increases. With the prospect of finally being able to play competitive tennis in Berlin in mid-July after the long break, training is also really fun. It is a very special challenge to compete on grass on the Steffi Graf Stadium within a week and then in Hangar 6 of Tempelhof Airport on Hardcourt. The opponents are extremely strong with the two top ten players Elina Svitolina and Kiki Bertens as well as Wimbledon winners Petra Kvitova and Julia Görges. Berlin will show where I stand in comparison to the competition, ”Petkovic was looking forward to the bett1ACES.

Two individual tournaments are on the program in Berlin next week. The women are Elina Svitolina (UKR / WTA number 5), Kiki Bertens (NED / WTA-7), Petra Kvitova (CZE / WTA-12), Julia Görges (GER / WTA-38) and Andrea Petkovic (GER / WTA-87), the men are Dominic Thiem (AUT / ATP number 3), Alexander Zverev (GER / ATP-7), Nick Kyrgios (AUS / ATP-40), Jannik Sinner (ITA / ATP-73) and former world ranking second Tommy Haas (GER).

From July 13 to 15, 2020, the first grass competitions will be held at the Center Court of the Steffi Graf Stadium in the LTTC "Rot-Weiß" eV At the start there will be two quarter-finals, on the second day the winners will meet the two top-ranked men and women who are set for the semi-finals. On the third day, the finals and the matches for third place are on the program. This means that four games will be played on each of the three match days. After a day off, this format will also be used from July 17th to 19th, 2020 on hard court in hangar 6 of Tempelhof Airport.

It is played for a total prize money of 200,000 euros, with women and men for 100,000 euros each.
