We know each other, we value each other - and have done so for many years. Rafael Nadal, himself a passionate golfer, has already visited Tiger Woods at tournaments, but the American superstar not only watched the Spaniard's matches at the US Open up close. No wonder, then, that Nadal has joined the many wishes for recovery that Woods received after his car accident on Tuesday. Woods had overturned his car several times, had to be freed from the wreck with a special tool and operations on both legs.
Nadal himself is currently also plagued by back problems. Which is why the Mallorcan canceled his participation in the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Rotterdam on Thursday.
Serena Williams also spoke up on Twitter - and addressed Tiger Woods as "big brother".
At the moment, one can only speculate about the severity of the injuries and a possible return of Woods to the PGA Tour. The 15-time major winner had to undergo his fifth operation on the back in winter and actually wanted to tee off again at the Masters in Augusta at the end of April. This is definitely not going to happen.
