To date, Rafael Nadal has not pushed himself to the fore at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo: The Spaniard has not mentioned that the double defense competition will be tackled by Nadal from Wednesday. The initial task is quite demanding - Roberto Bautista Agut is waiting.

It will be the first major test for Nadal after retiring from Indian Wells. There he could not compete against Roger Federer in his semi-finals because of knee problems, and also had to cancel his appearance in Miami. Rafael Nadal has spent the past few weeks at home in his academy in Mallorca - as can be assumed, in his few leisure hours on the golf course.

Tiger Woods is a role model for everyone

Golf is Nadal's second great sporting passion. Passive too. And so it can be assumed that the 31-year-old followed the last round of the Masters in Augusta blow by blow on Sunday and duly celebrated the winner. “Tiger Woods is probably my favorite athlete around the world. I'm a big fan of his, ”said Nadal in Monte Carlo.

“He has had difficult times. You just have to imagine the whole process and all the hard work he had to go through to get back on the golf course, ”said the Spaniard, who wants to win his twelfth title at the Monte Carlo Country Club. "To finally win a Grand Slam tournament again, especially in Augusta, which is probably his favorite, Tiger certainly means everything."

Similar to Nadal, Woods has had to deal with injuries over the past few years and had to undergo multiple operations on his back. “What happened to Tiger last year should be an inspiration for everyone, not just me. He is a good example of the passion for sport, disciplined, hard work and love for his game. ”
