According to the mayor of the particularly hard-hit municipality of Sant Llorenc, Mateu Puigros, the eleven-time French Open winner gave one million euros from his private assets.
"Help from a very special person"
On October 9, 13 people died in severe flooding on the holiday island. Nadal had tackled the clean-up work himself, most recently he collected money at a celebrity golf tournament.
"It is a help from a very special person who shows his love for our home every day. He is one of us," said Puigros. Nadal comes from the neighboring community of Manacor.
