In the past two seasons, the tennis calendar has been thrown upside down due to the corona pandemic, but that should end in the coming year: If you take a look at the calendar published by ATP on Thursday for the first half of the season, almost everyone thinks Tournaments take place on their regular dates.

The starting signal for the 2022 season will be given on January 1 with the ATP Cup, which, unlike its premiere in 2020, will only take place in one place. In Sydney, the successor to defending champion Russia is being sought over two locations. At the same time, two 250cc events are planned in Melbourne and Adelaide. The preparatory tournament in Auckland, New Zealand, is canceled due to the corona pandemic.

Australian Open as the first highlight

In the week before the Australian Open, which begins on January 17th - while qualification for the first Grand Slam tournament of the year is pending in Melbourne - two more titles will be awarded in Sydney and again in Adelaide before the first major in Melbourne Park -Trophy will go.

In February, a total of four 500 series events will take place in Rotterdam, Rio de Janeiro, Acapulco and Dubai. Immediately before the tournament in Dubai, the game will also be played in Doha, which is usually served in the first calendar week. In March there will be the "sushine double" of the two ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami for the first time since 2019.

Three weeks between the French Open and Wimbledon

From April the tennis stage will again belong to the clay court specialists. As usual, the highlights in preparation for the French Open are the 1000s in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome. From May 22nd it will finally be in Paris for the second Grand Slam title of the year.

Just three weeks after the final in the French capital, the major event in Wimbledon begins on June 27th, and thus the last tournament of the first half of the year. Before that, the German fans will also get their money's worth during the lawn season in Stuttgart and Halle / Westphalia.
