There are players who dream of reaching the top 30 in the world rankings only once. And then there is Roger Federer , who has been one of the 30 best tennis players in the world for exactly 1000 weeks since the beginning of this week!
Unsurprisingly, the 38-year-old is the first player to do this feat. Federer has been part of this elite group since October 2000, making his first leap into the top 30 thanks to a semi-final entry in Vienna and reaching the final in Basel.

Just for comparison: At this point the current world ranking was 21. Felix Auger-Aliassime just two months old! Federer is currently 18 places ahead of him in the world rankings and will continue to try to keep him and other youngsters at a distance in the coming year.
In any case, the 20-time Grand Slam winner can be trusted. The "Maestro" will open its season at the Australian Open (from January 20, 2020). After two Melbourne gymnastics victories in a row, Federer failed in the pre-season in the round of 16 against Stefanos Tsitsipas .
