Roger Federer beats Peter Gojowczyk in Basel

Roger Federer celebrated a sovereign start to his home tournament in Basel on Monday night. The Swiss beat DTB professional Peter Gojowczyk in a hurry with 6: 2, 6: 1. It was the 1,500 match in Federer's professional career, for the 1,232. At one point he left the court as the winner.

In the first set, Federer scored the first break in the fourth game, followed by another after 22 minutes to 6: 2. In the second round, the Swiss had to accept a short-term rebreak to 2: 1, but then took the next four games and finished after 54 minutes of the match.

Federer is now the player with the second most contested matches as a professional. Only Jimmy Connors still has the edge with 1,556.
