Roger Federer gets his own commemorative coin
Great honor for Roger Federer : The tennis superstar gets his own commemorative coin in his native Switzerland as the first surviving personality.

As the Federal Mint Swissmint announced, the 20-time Grand Slam winner will be honored with a 20-franc silver coin, followed by a 50-franc gold coin in May 2020. No other Swiss worldwide has a similar level of awareness as Roger Federer , said in a press release from Swissmint.
"Thank you Switzerland and thank Swissmint for this incredible honor and privilege," wrote Federer on Twitter. Due to the expected great interest, there will be an online pre-sale for the first 55,000 coins from 2 December until "no later than 19 December". The price is 30 Swiss francs (around 27 euros).
Since 1936, the Swiss Confederation has issued commemorative coins in memory of important historical and cultural events or in honor of great personalities.
