On the sidelines of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, Federer said that he was not thinking about a possible end of career: "I am not thinking about the end of my career. I have no plans. There were rumors that it was at the Olympic Games could be that far in Tokyo, but that's not true. "

At the moment he just feels good and enjoys being able to show good tennis. This is mainly due to the fact that the 20-time Grand Slam winner has been without pain medication for months. "I would love to be able to sign a piece of paper now that says I will feel like I am for the rest of my life."

Should Federer lose the necessary fitness and freedom from injury, he would consider retiring. "It would no longer be fun if the body did not allow me to reach my current level." The 37-year-old also wants to be able to compete with the best players for the big titles in the future. "If I feel like I can't beat the best and can't win tournaments anymore, that would be two other things," answered Federer when it came to the circumstances under which his career might end.

The family is a priority for Federer

The most important thing for the maestro is still the family. If his family or wife wanted it, Federer would stop immediately. "But my wife thinks it's okay that I don't know when I want to end my career. I would like to know because that would help coordinate with the family," said the Swiss with a smile.

He did not know whether Federer would win another Grand Slam title: "But I thought that a few years ago." Two very good years followed in 2017 and 2018 with a total of three major triumphs. "I was certainly lucky, but I also did a lot of things right." With a look at the Swiss career, this can only be answered in the affirmative - and it is not yet evening every day.
