Ivan Ljubicic and Roger Federer - world travelers when it comes to tennis

Roger Federer would like to have more time. More time to regenerate, to take care of his family, to play tournaments. The Swiss, who is celebrating his 38th birthday in just a few days, had justified his cancellation for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Montreal. Coach Ivan Ljubicic has now spoken about how much time Federer will spend on tournament courts in 2019 in a conversation with Croatian media.

"The first tournament after the break will be Cincinnati," said Ljubicic. "I don't know if I'm coming or Severin Lüthi. Then the US Open, we will travel to Shanghai together, Basel, maybe Paris-Bercy and the ATP final. ”After the last major of the year, the third edition of the Laver Cup is coming up, this time in Geneva.

Ljubicic loves tennis life

Ljubicic does not see trips through the tennis circus as a burden - especially not in the company of the 20-time major winner. "Who wouldn't be happy to be able to travel with someone like Roger?" Asked Ljubicic. The Croatian, formerly number two himself, still wants to be on tour.

"I also traveled before Roger. It will quickly become completely normal, ”continues Ljubicic. “I love tennis, I love the tour. I won't stop traveling when Roger ends his career or we end our collaboration. ”
