Roger Federer is in good shape in Miami

Roger Federer made it into the round of 16 at the ATP 1000 Masters tournament in Miami. The Swiss prevailed against Filip Krajinovic 7: 5, 6: 3 and thus kept his white vest against the Serb. Federer celebrated his third success in the third duel with Krajinovic after Basel (2018) and Indian Wells (2018).

Federer with starting difficulties

Federer did not get an ideal start to the game. The 37-year-old had to give up his serve immediately to 1: 2, but immediately managed the rebreak. Then both players played their serve games before Federer took advantage of the second of his eight break chances and fixed the 7-5 set win. In the second round, the "Maestro" quickly moved to 3: 0, did not let anything burn and then served to win the two sets after around 90 minutes of play. Federer's opponent in the fight for a ticket to the quarter-finals is Daniil Medvedev. The Russian eliminated US qualifier Reilly Opelka 7: 6 (5), 6: 7 (5), 7: 6 (0) in a tiebreak thriller.

Dimitrov failed

Grigor Dimitrov, who had his first tournament since the Australian Open in January due to shoulder problems, went out in round three. The Bulgarian lost 5: 7, 5: 7 to the Australian Jordan Thompson. The 24-year-old faces Kevin Anderson in the round of 16. The South African held the upper hand against Joao Sousa (POR) with 6: 4, 7: 6 (6).
