Roger Federer: "Nick Kyrgios can beat anyone and he knows that too."

Roger Federer has been training in the heat of Melbourne for a few days now after skipping the ATP Cup for family reasons, as he announced late last year. While Federer had to end without a Grand Slam title in 2019 due to a bitter final defeat at Wimbledon and Nadal and Djokovic shared the major victories with each other, the Swiss is now preparing to close the gap to his closest competitors.

Despite his age, the 38-year-old does not miss the opportunity to pursue his passion for tennis and does not want to know anything about a quick end. The Swiss competes as number three at the Australian Open!

Federer on Kyrgios: "Nick doesn't have to improve much"

When asked about Nick Kyrgios, Federer says that the Australian does not have to improve his game much because he already has a solid back and forth hand, as well as a good serve and volley.

The success of the young Australian is much more dependent on his attitude to the game and his willingness to invest.

Kyrgios with strong performance at the ATP Cup

Kyrgios gave his best at the ATP Cup premiere, both on and off the field, where he motivated and cheered on his teammates and besides Jan-Lennard Struff also defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in perhaps the best match of the tournament.

He beat Cameron Norrie and reached the semi-finals after a legendary double against Britain with Australia, where he had no chance against the Spaniard Bautista-Agut . All in all it was a very positive week for Kyrgios and it remains to be seen how far he can be carried by the home crowd in Melbourne and in the end maybe celebrate his first Grand Slam victory.
