Federer will only open the season at the Australian Open (from January 20th). The Swiss had already canceled the previous ATP Cup in autumn due to family reasons . The 38-year-old then heads to the ATP 500 event in Dubai, where the maestro won his 100th title on the tour last season.

In March, Federer will tackle the Sunshine double in Indian Wells and Miami. At the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year, the third place in the world rankings reached the final in 2019 (loss to Dominic Thiem), in Florida he was even able to secure the title with a final victory over John Isner .

Federer - only Paris on sand?

After that, the European clay court season awaits Federer, just like last year. So far, the 20-time Grand Slam winner has only planned an appearance in Roland Garros, but it is likely that the maestro will at least participate in the event in Madrid. In 2019, the 38-year-old even made a stopover in Rome between Madrid and Paris .

After the major at the Stade de Roland Garros, the family of four has his beloved grass season. Almost traditionally, Federer in Halle will prepare for the Grand Slam tournament that will take place in Wimbledon.

Olympics instead of Toronto

The Olympic Games in Tokyo are another big highlight for Federer . In favor of this, the 38-year-old will also forego the Rogers Cup in Toronto. The Swiss will return to the tennis stage in Cincinnati after the Olympics.

Federer will end the New York Grand Slam season in September before heading on to the Laver Cup in Boston. At the end of the year, the events in Shanghai and Basel are also on the program for the long-standing world number one. Federer then naturally wants to end the season at the ATP Finals in London.
