Sinner coach Vagnozzi: "At 19, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic were not as far as Alcaraz"

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have met five times so far on the ATP tour, with the success in the semifinals of Indian Wells the Spaniard is currently ahead with 3: 2 victories. In Miami, the showdown between the two could again only come in the semi-finals, but there is still a little work to be done before then. Simone Vagnozzi has been taking care of Jannik Sinner as the main coach since the beginning of 2022, and Darren Cahill is helping more and more often. Vagnozzi has now commented on the current form of his protégé to the ubitennis.net portal. But also to Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz already a complete player at 19
"Well, we're talking about a phenomenon," said Coach Vagnozzi. “At 19 nobody played like him, not even the all-time greats like Djokovic, Rafa and Federer. Nobody was such a complete player when they were 19 years old."
Sinner is not that far yet. However: “We are happy in any case. Jannik has been very consistent lately - at the Australian Open, in Rotterdam and in Montpellier. In Indian Wells he reached the semi-finals and delivered a tight match against Alcaraz. That means we're on the right track... But our main goal isn't to reach the semi-finals. But to win one of those tournaments.”
