At the ATP Finals in Turin, Stefanos Tsitsipas had to retire after only one match due to an elbow injury, around a week later the French Open finalist even went under the knife: Tsitsipas underwent an operation on the injured joint in Switzerland on Thursday.

The Greek won't be out for too long, though. As Tsitsipas wrote on Facebook, he would like to return to the training court in Dubai in two weeks and prepare for the coming season.

So nothing should stand in the way of a start at the Australian Open, which begins on January 17th. Apparently not a missing corona vaccination either. "I'm looking forward to Australia," said Tsitsipas to his fans.

In August, the 23-year-old had spoken out against a vaccination, about a month later Tsitsipas announced that he wanted to pick up the stitches . The world number four has now made that apparent. Only fully immunized players are allowed to start at the Australian Open .
