The verdict relates to incidents that are said to have happened in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2014. As the Valais cantonal court found in its verdict, Allegro is said to have used violence against a fellow Austrian coach after a "bar tour" to force the woman to perform sexual acts. This was reported by the Swiss Blick. However, the Swiss should not have raped the coach colleague, the court said.

Yves Allegro himself claims he has no memory of the incident. "My last memory is that I drank an alcohol shot and then went on the dance floor," said the Swiss. "I have never been violent towards anyone," Allegro said in the first instance. The woman, on the other hand, has reported sexual assault and violence on the part of the ex-double specialist.

Cooperation with Riedi should continue

The sentence of 20 months is now less than a judgment by the district court of Sierre, which initially sentenced Allegro to two years. The prosecution had pleaded for three years, Allegro's lawyers for acquittal. "We are currently analyzing the verdict. It is not yet clear whether we will go to the Federal Court," said the prosecutor's lawyer to Schweizer Blick.

Yves Allegro was engaged as a trainer for Swiss Tennis until June 2020 - then this engagement ended. The Swiss youngster Leandro Riedi has secured the services of the 43-year-old since March 2022. And this should be adhered to despite the verdict, as Swiss Tennis explained to Blick. The 20-year-old Riedi did not want to comment on this.

In his active career, Allegro was particularly successful in pair skating, the 43-year-old won three ATP titles, two of them alongside Roger Federer. The Swiss is also doing well as a trainer, Heinz Günthardt is quoted by Blick as saying: "I can't say anything about the court decision. What I can judge is that Yves is an excellent coach."
