However, not all of the 13.5 million that the Bavarian Tennis Association (BTV) has taken to expand the TennisBase in Oberhaching has been installed. However, the most important athletic elements are already ready for the athletes: There are two new indoor courts, a much larger gym and a gymnasium in which the athletic training can be performed. There are also four apartments for professional players, one of which is already occupied: Yannick Hanfmann, who wants to launch an attack on the Top 100 of the ATP world rankings next year, has found a temporary home since Monday at the base.

Hanfmann was on Wednesday one of those actors who have a large journalists round in Oberhaching answer questions. Peter Mayer, the BTV managing director, led the event in advance, then presented the concerns of the association in the press conference. "In component one was about creating the best possible conditions for our junior players and professionals from the given opportunities and the previously Existing deficits of the system, especially in the athletic training area to eliminate, "said Mayer.

Görges also trains in Oberhaching

What, according to Lars Uebel, who will be the boss of the base from next year, also succeeded. Although you are not on a level with the academies of those associations that host a Grand Slam tournament, the international connection but you have managed. But also to give to consider: "Balls over the net are not beaten by building blocks, but still by professionals." Why one goal of the TennisBase is of course also to lure the best coaches to Oberhaching. However, within the given budget.

The same goal pursued the DTB national coach and Davis Cup boss Michael Kohlmann. "We always invite squad athletes to training weeks, so that they can get a better idea of the advanced training center," said Kohlmann, who will travel to Brisbane with the German team for the ATP Cup - in a twisted role with Boris Becker, who Captain leads the team.

The offer in Oberhaching is aimed primarily at the male youth and the pros on the ATP tour, which is because the DTB has established the bases for women in other places, such as in Stuttgart. The fact that women are still welcome has been experienced by Mona Barthel and Sabine Lisicki in the past. And Julia Görges is currently enjoying all the advantages of the TennisBase: The German number two meets regularly with her coach Jens Gerlach for training sessions in Oberhaching.
