In the terrorist attack in Vienna on Monday evening, four victims and the assassin were killed. While the sports world reacted with horror to the attack, Dominic Thiem's trainer Nicolas Massu was apparently stuck in the area of operation.

"I'm very close to the attack in the center of Vienna. They make us wait in a restaurant until we know when we can leave," wrote the Chilean on Twitter during the attack. Massu later stated that he had left the premises unharmed.

"Hello everyone. I am already safe and well in the hotel and after a great fear we were locked in the restaurant for 8 hours as a precaution. Thank you again for your messages," said Massu.

From a sporting point of view, the 41-year-old will continue at the ATP Finals in London. His protégé Dominic Thiem canceled the start of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy due to a blister on the ball of his right foot .
