It felt like a small milestone for Alexander Zverev. "That's really special. Because not many players have managed to win against all four in their career," said the German tennis star after he knocked out Andy Murray at the Masters in Indian Wells.

With the 6: 4, 7: 6 (7: 4) success against the three-time Grand Slam winner, Zverev completed his personal quartet against the so-called "Big Four". He had already beaten the major record champions Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. But he had missed a success against "Sir Andy" in the two previous meetings.

In the fight for the round of 16 at the highly endowed tournament in the Californian desert, the world number four had the better end on his side against the former number one, which clearly frustrated Murray: The Briton thundered his racket on the hard court. Zverev, on the other hand, has won 19 of the last 20 matches, including his Olympic victory - he only had to admit defeat to Djokovic in the semifinals of the US Open.

Alexander Zverev: "Enjoyed every second after Wimbledon"

"You have to enjoy what you do. After Wimbledon, I enjoyed every second that I was on the pitch," said the man from Hamburg: "The second set in particular was on a high level."

The number three seeded Zverev will now meet the French Gael Monfils (No. 14). So far, he has been leading 3-0 in the direct comparison, but the last game was from 2016.
