The mixed nations tournament, which was played annually from 1989 to 2019, is scheduled to take place in Nice, France, from July 19 to 23, 2023, as the world tennis association ITF announced on Tuesday. "The Hopman Cup has always held a special place in the hearts of tennis fans as a unique mixed-team tournament," said ITF President David Haggerty.

The tournament was held in Perth (Australia) until 2019, the new venue is now to be the "Nice Lawn Tennis Club" until 2027. The mode should be retained: Each participating nation provides one player and one player, both compete in a singles and then in mixed doubles. Six nations will be invited in each of the first two years, increasing to eight in 2025. A French team will be set to host each year.

The tournament is named after former Australian tennis pro Harry Hopman. The doubles specialist won a total of seven Grand Slam titles between 1929 and 1939 (twice doubles, five times mixed doubles). The record winners of the Hopman Cup are the USA with six victories, Germany triumphed twice, namely with the idols Steffi Graf (1993 with Michael Stich) and Boris Becker (1995 with Anke Huber).
