Group A: Dominic Thiem vs. David Pichler (22.05, 12 noon, live on Servus TV)

Does anyone remember Dominic Thiem's last match? Little help: It was in South America, more precisely in Rio de Janeiro. There Thiem lost to the Italian Ginaluca Mager, then headed for Los Angeles to prepare for the title defense in Indian Wells. This project will have to wait until 2021. To this end, the Austrian number one will open the Generali Austrian Pro Series in the Südstadt next Monday.

ATP points are naturally not awarded, and spectators also have to do without Thiem and his opponent David Pichler. Likewise, support from ball children. Only a chair umpire will accompany the matches. The sporting starting position in this match couldn't be clearer, but we are looking forward to it!

Group B: Jurij Rodionov vs. Jürgen Melzer (May 26th, 12 noon)

There are many similarities between youngster Jurij Rodionov and legend Jürgen Melzer. First of all, there is the fact that sand is not the favorite course for both (even though Melzer celebrated his greatest success on the ashes of Roland Garros with the semi-finals). In addition, the two left-handers like to celebrate the neat dropshot - for Melzer, this has proven to be a constant stylistic device throughout the entire career. Rodionov has slowed down a bit in terms of stops compared to his junior days.

Group C: Dennis Novak vs. Lukas Neumayer (May 31st, 2 p.m.)

There should be no doubt about the winner in this match either, after all, Dennis Novak has taken the next step in recent months, playing among the top 100 professionals in the world. Lukas Neumayer, on the other hand, is, alongside Marko Andrejic, Austria's greatest young hope. And maybe can score with the element of surprise. Because Novak has never seen his opponent play in a match, as he told in the latest issue of "Quiet, please - the tennisnet podcast".

Group D: Sebastian Ofner vs. Philipp Oswald (May 29th, 4 p.m.)

How often will we see Philipp Oswald in his matches on the net? The Vorarlberg feels most comfortable there as a double specialist, Sebastian Ofner creates it more from the baseline. But just like "Ossi" can dictate a match with his serve. In any case, we will see a match between two players who are always ready (or already were) to go into the Bütt for Austria in the Davis Cup.
