"I think he can already achieve something in Miami, and then the tournaments in Europe will come on sand - a surface on which he feels very comfortable," said the former world number two of the Süddeutsche Zeitung: "Everywhere there - Rome, Madrid , but even at the French Open - I trust him."

Haas was able to take a close look at Olympic champion Zverev in his capacity as tournament director in Indian Wells up until the round of 16 defeat against Daniil Medvedev and recognized significant progress in the 25-year-old. One of the favorites for a Grand Slam victory is the 2020 US Open finalist, who was thrown off course by an ankle injury last year, but not yet again.

"He's coming back from a really bad injury and now there's the next generation," said Haas. Some players are currently ahead of Zverev: "But Zverev is in this mix, no question; he only needs one run and has to feel comfortable, then you have to beat him first."
