Toni Nadal will look after Felix Auger-Aliassime with immediate effect

It was in 2017 that Toni Nadal surprisingly said goodbye to his nephew Rafael's team. Toni said he was looking forward to spending more time with his family and in the new tennis academy on Manacor and to escape the stress of travel.

Now the 60-year-old has apparently gotten back on the road: As it became public on Thursday, Toni Nadal will return as a trainer at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo. However, the Spaniard will not sit in his nephew's box, but in that of Felix Auger-Aliassime.

No fixed contract end

The Canadian announced this on Thursday, according to a report in the Spanish newspaper Marca. The world number 22. had trained several times in the recent past at the Rafa Nadal Academy and apparently found a liking for Toni Nadal's training methods.

The Iberian, who led Rafael Nadal to 16 Grand Slam titles and to the top of the world rankings, will accompany Auger-Aliassime to the most important tournaments of the year. It should already be certain that the two will also work together in Roland Garros. According to Marca, there is no agreed end of the contract.
