Toni Nadal is not completely convinced of the tournament schedule presented for the resumption of the ATP Tour

For a few days now it has been pretty clear when and how the ATP tour will be continued this year. The presented schedule is one thing above all: tight. Because immediately after the ATP 500 event in Washington, the players go to New York City, where the ATP Masters 1000 event from Cincinnati has found its replacement home and the US Open should also take place. Then it should go back over the ocean to Europe for the players, where the next Grand Slam, the French Open, should start immediately after the ATP Masters 1000 events in Madrid and Rome.

The Spaniard had to defend the title - and thus a whopping 4000 points - at the US Open and at Roland Garros, a schedule that should be of particular concern to Rafael Nadal. "I spoke to Rafa and he is still unsure which tournaments to play," Toni Nadal now told ESPN . "The schedule is intolerable, especially for experienced players who can't compete for so many weeks in a row. I find it a little ugly what the ATP did," says Uncle Toni with the ATP's plans.

Changing the points is a possible solution

It is a decision that is completely against the needs of Nadal or Djokovic. "I'm amazed at everything the two of them have done for tennis in the past few years," said Toni Nadal. According to the Spaniard, one possible solution would be to change the points for these events, an option that Jürgen Melzer also considers to be the best possible in the conversation in the tennisnet podcast.

As in this issue of the tennisnet podcast , the Adria Tour and its development were also discussed in an interview with Toni Nadal. "It is a shame what happened, because it was a good initiative for tennis, which went very badly and gave the sport and the players a negative image," said Uncle Toni regarding the COVID-19 cases in the course of the Exhibition tour of the Serbs, for whom Rafael Nadal's longtime coach is quite understanding: "The truth is that a number one should have been more careful, but they have already apologized, this is a mistake that can happen to anyone .
