Nothing came of the dream finale at the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Beijing between number one, Dominic Thiem, and number two, Alexander Zverev. While the Austrian was still able to turn his semi-final after a strong race to catch up against Karen Khachanov, Zverev lost 6: 7 (6) and 4: 6 against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Zverev started better, took his opponent's first service game straight away. At 3-2, Zverev thought he was the winner of his service game, while Hawkeye agreed to a challenge from Tsitsipas. The Greek got the rebreak, the match seemed to be spinning. Then, however, Tsitsipas was unable to reserve the first set, a tie break had to decide. Tsitsipas won 8: 6, Zverev was now frustrated.

The German was quickly 1: 5 behind in the second set and fought his way back to 4: 5. The sixth match ball for Stefanos Tsitsipas then sat - a backhand from Zverev flew out.

So far, Stefanos Tsitsipas has played five times against his opponent Dominic Thiem. Most recently in Montreal in 2018, when the Greek prevailed. Overall, Thiem is ahead with 3-2 wins.
