A solid win for Iga Swiatek , a loss for Rafael Nadal . And a deep German hole. That's how you could sum up day five of the United Cup in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney.

The group stage of the United Cup is drawing to a close. And on the penultimate day of the same there were some remarkable results again...
- Group A: The Belgians have to win four matches against Greece to still have a chance to continue playing in the United Cup. After Stefanos Tsitsipas' 6: 3 and 6: 2 against David Goffin, slips are forbidden. After all, Alison van Uytvank was able to score 7: 5, 2: 6 and 6: 3 against Despina Papamichail. GRE 1, BEL 1
- Group B: Probably the best individual of the day went to Iga Swiatek. The world number one prevailed against Belinda Bencic 6:3 and 7:6 (3) and was 2:1 in a personal comparison with the Swiss Olympic champion. However, Marc-Andrea Hüsler immediately equalized against Daniel Michalski with a 6:3 and 6:2. Tomorrow Stan Wawrinka meets Hubert Hurkacz in the top individual. POL 1, SUI 1
- Group C: It's not going well for the German team in Sydney. Alexander Zverev and Jule Niemeier each won just five games in their games against Taylor Fritz and Madison Keys. It's hard to imagine that Oscar Otte against Frances Tiafoe and Laura Siegemund against Jessica Pegula can still turn things around. USA 2, GER 0
- Group D: Another defeat for Rafael Nadal, who went down against Alex de Minaur 6: 3, 1: 6 and 5: 7. Luckily for the Spanish team, Nuria Parrizas Diaz was able to beat Maddison Inglis 6-1, 6-3. ESP 1, OFF 1
- Group E: Things are looking good for Italy against Norway. Lorenzo Musetti defeated Viktor Durasovic 7: 6 (7) and 6: 3, Martina Trevisan was undamaged against Malene Helgoe 7: 5, 3: 6 and 6: 4. ITA 2, NOR 0
- Group F: Donna Vekic surprisingly put Croatia ahead against France. Vekic defeated Alizé Cornet 6:4 and 6:3. Afterwards Borna Coric played against Arthur Rinderknech. CRO 1, FRA 0
