When Arya Stark comes up for a tennis match, it's usually a good sign for a little smaller people. Diego Schwartzman, for example, is led by the ATP with a proud height of 1.70 meters, which is not too far from the 1.55 meters with which Maisie Williams used that Arya Stark in the HBO epic "Game of Thrones" to become one of the most exciting characters has made.

Alexander Zverev can do little with such dimensions, the German number one knocks on the two meters with a life size of 198 centimeters. It was clear to Zverev that Schwartzman would be an uncomfortable opponent. The Argentine is in 21st place in the world rankings, had not lost a set in the current competition. In contrast to Zverev, who had to go well above the minimum.

And this time, too, it wasn't easy. Zverev gave up his serve right at the beginning, but managed to win five games in a row after the 0-2. The first set went 6: 3 to the Germans, who could not take advantage of their early chances of a break in round two. Schwartzman picked up speed, equalized with a 6-2.

The Argentinian takes the ball extremely early, but also likes to play with a lot of trajectory. Zverev had to vary the hit height of the ball again and again, an exercise that is not mandatory for the sixth-placed German. Schwartzman also almost inevitably got the third act, the set ball alone had the highest entertainment value.

Schwartzman raises doubts again

Zverev had already produced 14 double faults at this point, the uncertainty of the past few weeks was noticeable again. And so the first service game in set three went straight, Schwartzman was the much fresher player, with the break to 4: 0. Zverev helped again with a second serve on the net, the comeback had now become such a monstrous task that not even Arya Stark could have mastered it. And that had at least taken the night king out of the game.

Alexander Zverev nevertheless showed great fighting spirit, also verbally. James Keothavong punished Zverev's exclamation towards his box with a warning, the German got a point deducted. Because it was the second criminal offense of the evening. The first, however, hadn't been noticed by Zverev or Schwartzman, the chair referee had previously sanctioned the abuse of a ball in the match. That was enough for the excitement. After 3:08 hours of play Diego Schwartzman closed the game with the second match ball.
