After the cancellation of numerous top stars for the Olympic Games in Tokyo , tennis fans can in all likelihood look forward to the start of another world class athlete, at least in Wimbledon: A start of world number three Simona Halep in southwest London should apparently nothing more after her injury to the left calf Stand away.

Because as the Romanian announced via Twitter, she is already on Church Road and is preparing there for the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. The organizers welcomed the 2019 winner on social media with the words "ready to defend her title".

A bit of caution is still required, however, because Halep canceled her start at the WTA 250 tournament in Bad Homburg last week despite several training sessions on site shortly before the draw. "It turned out that my calf is unfortunately not yet resilient enough to start a tournament," said the 29-year-old a few days ago.
