Plenty of Wimbledon flair in the historic Kurpark: the current number 3 in the world rankings and Wimbledon title holder Simona Halep will be at the start of the Bad Homburg Open presented by Engel & Völkers from June 20 to 26, 2021. The 29-year-old Romanian and two-time Grand Slam winner accepted a top 20 wildcard and is the third Wimbledon winner in the 32 draw of the new WTA 250 grass event after tournament ambassadors Angelique Kerber and Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic).

"I'm looking forward to being part of this event at a historic location, to preparing for Wimbledon there - and also to seeing spectators in the stands again," said world number three Simona Halep, who in July 2019 on the Holy Lawn said her very personal Had experienced great moment. At that time she won the Wimbledon final against Serena Williams (USA) 6: 2, 6: 2 and entered the history books with the victory on Church Road.

Halep from Constanta, who can count on her loyal supporters at all tournaments worldwide, has been at the top of the world rankings for a total of 64 weeks. In 2018, the 1.68 m tall power player won her first Grand Slam title at the French Open in Paris. Halep had to do without her participation in the most important clay court tournament in the world this year due to a calf injury.

Due to the great demand, all available tickets were sold out within an hour of the opening of the booking system on Tuesday, June 8th. Ticket holders from last year had the opportunity to rebook their existing reservation for the limited grandstand capacities of this year's premiere of the Bad Homburg Open 2021 presented by Engel & Völkers. Since only a limited number of grandstand visitors are allowed due to the applicable hygiene regulations, we ask for your understanding that not all ticket requests could be fulfilled.
