Stan Wawrinka won't play at Wimbledon this year

It was at the end of March when Stan Wawrinka underwent a "minor operation" on his left foot and announced that he would have to take a break for "a few weeks". But apparently the three-time Grand Slam winner is still struggling with problems, as he will not start at any of this year's lawn tournaments.

The Swiss will therefore also be absent from the third Grand Slam tournament of the year in Wimbledon. Wawrinka had previously canceled his participation in the ATP events in Stuttgart, London's Queen's Club and in Eastbourne.

The 36-year-old played his last match to date on March 9 at the ATP 250 tournament in Doha, where he lost to Lloyd Harris in three sets. Even before that, things had not gone as planned for the Swiss this year: In none of his four tournament appearances did Wawrinka win more than two matches.

When Wawrinka will return to the ATP tour is currently unclear.
