WTA allows coaching on a trial basis

"Whether it's cheering or a few words when the player is on the same side of the field, or hand signals - such coaching as is now taking place from the box is allowed," said a spokesman for the WTA according to the report.
The association makes the change according to its own information, because such contact between players and their coaches is already quite common. The previous requirements are difficult to enforce. However, the new rules should not lead to more coaching during the games than is already the case.
The rule changes do not affect the Grand Slam tournaments or men's tennis.
