Kerber's match against the Russian Anastasia Gasanova had to be stopped due to darkness when the score was 4: 2 in the first set for the German defending champion. The sequel is on Tuesday.
Tatjana Maria, on the other hand, has already reached the round of 16 at the Wimbledon dress rehearsal. In the first round of the WTA tournament, the 34-year-old prevailed 6: 3, 5: 7, 6: 3 against the Russian Anastasia Potapova after a break in rain.
Jule Niemeier is also in the round of 16 after a commanding performance. In her opening match, the 22-year-old from Dortmund beat Claire Liu from the USA 6-2, 6-2.
