Strong performance by Andrea Petkovic at the WTA 250 event in Bad Homburg: The German, who is currently only on position 129 in the women's ranking, clearly beat the sixth seeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea (WTA 45) 6: 3, 6 in the first round : 4. For "Petko" it was the first victory in the main draw of a WTA tournament in three months. In the round of 16, the 33-year-old now faces the American Amanda Anisimova (WTA 79), who did not give a chance to Danka Kovinic, who was 19 places better in the WTA ranking with 6: 2, 6: 1.

Tamara Korpatsch (WTA 144) fought a 2:33 hour battle with Swedish number one Rebecca Peterson. The 26-year-old from Hamburg surprisingly got the upper hand in the end, winning 7: 5, 2: 6, 7: 6 (5). Korpatsch will face either her eighth-seeded compatriot Laura Siegemund or the American Sloane Stephens in the round of 16.

Unfortunately, the lawn tournament came to an end for Mona Barthel (WTA 187) and Mara Guth. While Barthel had to admit defeat to Romanian Patricia Maria Tig 6: 7 (4), 3: 6, the Hessians, who were equipped with a wild card, suffered a clear 3: 6, -0: 6 defeat against the five in a row Nadia Podorska from Argentina. Anna Zaja (WTA 396) successfully fought her way through the qualification. The 29-year-old starts with the American Ann Li (WTA 68).
