Sharma defeated the Colombian Maria Camila Osorio Serrano 7: 6 (5), 6: 1 in the semifinals and ended her run of eight matches without defeat. Sharma had to fend off four set balls in round 1. Osorio Serranohad surprisingly won her home tournament in Bogota last week, only in her fourth appearance in a WTA main draw.

In the final, the Australian meets the top seeded Ons Jabeur, who successfully took revenge on Danka Kovinic. It was 6: 3, 6: 0 for the Tunisian - she had already announced in advance that she wanted this victory. Last week, at the WTA 500 tournament also in Charleston, Kovinic had won. "I tried to learn from my last game. I had a lot of chances, this time I didn't want to leave them behind," said Jabeur. The fact that she said in advance that she absolutely wanted to win "probably gave me the confidence I needed".

In the final, Jabeur, 27th in the world, is the favorite against number 165 from Australia. The two have never played against each other, for both it is the second WTA final - and both want their first victory.

With 18 wins this year, Jabeur is in second place behind Garbine Muguruza with 21 victorious matches. "I have the momentum right now, I want this title so badly," she announced.
