WTA Doha: Elena Vesnina before comeback
The former world number 13. Elena Vesnina starts her comeback after the baby break - but initially only in doubles.

Vesnina has accepted a wildcard for the doubles competition for the Qatar Open in Doha (from March 1st).
In the course of her career, the 34-year-old was even more successful in doubles than in singles, collecting 18 titles here, most of them with compatriot Ekaterina Makarova, including three Grand Slam titles. In June 2018 she climbed to number 1 in the world rankings - of all things after her last appearance, at the French Open 2018. After that, Vesnina disappeared from the scene, and a few weeks later she announced her pregnancy . At the end of 2018, daughter Elisabeth was born.
At the beginning of the year Vesnina had announced her comeback , in Doha the first appearance will follow, initially only in doubles.
Vesnina and the Indian Wells Cup
Vesnina celebrated her greatest single success when she won Indian Wells in 2017, which was followed by one of the most amusing press conference scenes: Because in the middle of the conversation, she had to hand over the trophy placed in front of her. You need this for the winner of the men's competition, they said, and you only have one trophy. But don't worry: you will be given your own later.
