Elena Rybakina is unstoppable even in Dubai

The final defeat against Kiki Bertens last Sunday in St. Petersburg? Elena Rybakina has long since ticked off. The 20-year-old Kazakh is at Verta in the WTA Premier tournament in Dubai to get the next title right here on the Gulf. After defeating Australian Kenya winner Sofia Kenin in three sets on lap one, Rybakina now defended herself with a 7: 6 (1) and 6: 2 position on Karolina Pliskova, who was in second place.

This continues the lively death of favorites in Dubai: Elina Svitolina, winner of 2017 and 2018, had already dropped out without singing against Jennifer Brady in round one, defending champion Belinda Bencic lost to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Rybakina faces the winner of the match between Anett Kontaveit and Petra Martic in the semi-finals on Friday.

Jennifer Brady, who is coached by German ex-Görges coach Michael Geserer, went the extra mile - and defeated Australian Open finalist Garbine Muguruza 6: 7 (5), 6: 3 and 6: 4. Brady is now waiting for the winner of the duel between Simona Halep and Aryna Sabalenka.
