The start of the collaboration between Emma Raducanu and her German coach Torben Beltz is pretty shaky, at least as far as participation in tournaments is concerned. Actually, Raducanu should have participated in an exhibition match in Abu Dhabi, but had to cancel due to a positive corona test.
The subsequent self-isolation prevented proper preparation for the upcoming WTA Tour 250 event in Melbourne next week, Raducanu is now quoted as saying. After all: The current number 19 in the world is already in Australia and has already shown itself on the training ground in Melbourne.
After her surprising triumph in New York City in autumn 2021, the Briton was only able to win two matches - in Cluj-Napoca against Ana Bogdan and Polona Hercog. Raducanu played her last game in Linz, where she failed at the beginning against the Chinese Xinju Wang.
