Anett Kontaveit's current run is simply impressive. The 25-year-old has made all of her past twelve games victorious and secured the titles in Moscow and Cluj-Napoca in the course of this series. And also at the WTA Finals, for which Kontaveit qualified at the last second, things went like clockwork in the first two matches.

Both Barbora Krejcikova and Karolina Pliskova had no chance against the Estonians, Kontaveit already has her place in the semifinals. "Of course I'm really happy to be in the semi-finals. I think I played a very good match. I think it was very important for me to be as consistent as possible. It took me some time to get to theirs I had the feeling that my game got better and better as the game progressed, "said the world number eight after their 6: 4 and 6: 0 success over Pliskova.

For the first time after four duels with the Czech Kontaveit left the field as the winner on Friday. "The previous games are not really important. It's a new day and you have to beat the player you are playing against. This is how I approach the game," said the 25-year-old after her 38th win of the season on hard court represents the best value on the WTA tour.

"I think I just have more confidence in my strokes. I just try, but I try with a certain margin," said Kontaveit, explaining her success story. The Estonian wants to extend this a bit in Guadalajara. In the third and final group game, Garbine Muguruza is waiting for the world number eight on Sunday. But it will only get really serious for Kontaveit in the semi-finals.
