The 22-year-old prevailed in the final in Linz against her long-time doubles partner Elise Mertens from Belgium 7: 5, 6: 2 and celebrated her second title in a row.

Sabalenka had recently triumphed in Ostrava in the Czech Republic. "I hope there will be a few more titles to come," said Sabalenka at the award ceremony.

Ostrau and Linz were the only two women's tournaments after the clay court tour, which was postponed to autumn, with the French Open as the highlight. The Asia tour, including the season finale in Shenzhen, was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

In doubles, Arantxa Rus and Tamara Zidansek had previously triumphed 6: 3, 6: 4 over Lucie Hradecka and Katerina Siniakova.

Tournament boss Reichel: "Fans, we miss you!"

No spectators were allowed in Linz, but tournament director Sandra Reichel directed her attention precisely to the missing fans with a few words. "When we entered the TipsArena for the 30th anniversary of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz these days, we felt pretty lonely over and over again. Without you, the experience at the Linz ladies tennis classic was simply not the same and we long for it We already feel like seeing you all again hopefully next year, "she wrote in a press release, but at the same time pointed out that the decision was correct.
