WTA Luxembourg: Görges and Siegemund continue

Julia Görges and Laura Siegemund are one lap away at the WTA International Tournament in Luxembourg. Both the defending champion Görges at their start and Siegemund in their successful quarter-final entry had so their efforts with their opponents.

Julia Görges (WTA 26) has mastered the opening hurdle at the 250,000-dollar indoor hard court tournament in Luxembourg. The German number two, however, had their problems at the 5: 7, 6: 1, 6: 3 against the Japanese Misaki Doi (WTA 74). The 30-year-old from Bad Oldeslohe had to be treated after the second set won again and again on the right calf, but then bite through to the end and won the match. /

Siegemund (WTA 79) was also successful in Luxembourg. The 31-year-old from Stuttgart prevailed in their second round match against 21-year-old Slovakia Viktoria Kuzmova (WTA 52) with 6: 2, 6: 3 by. Siegemund meets Elena Rybakina (WTA 43) in the quarter-finals. Görges has to turn in the second round against the Romanian Sorana Cirstea (WTA 76). Darmstadt's Andrea Petkovic (WTA 75) match against her compatriot Antonia Lottner (WTA 210) will be held in Luxembourg on Thursday as well as Tatjana Maria's (WTA 86) match against Russian Anna Blinkova (WTA 66). The Russian had defeated 15-year-old American talent Cori Gauff (WTA 71), who had celebrated her first WTA title in Linz last week.
